The final book featured in this exhibition is Eureka, An Architectural View, by the Architectural Resource Group and Eureka Heritage Society. This is a very dense book with 267 pages. Similarly to Van Kirk’s Reflections of Arcata’s History, it is divided by time periods; not architectural time periods, but historical time periods. From the Gold Rush and Lumber Industry to the Great Depression, up to present day Eureka. This book takes a more historical look at Eureka’s Architecture, focusing more on its changes due to the economy, population changes, and developing industries. Because this book is so dense, page 41 has been selected to highlight this book, a birds-eye view of Eureka, circa 1895. This page features an incredibly beautiful illustration of Eureka. Any appreciator of art would appreciate this stunning map emphasizing major architectural landmarks of Eureka. The entire book is quite amazing.
