The Books

A collection of books whose intitial publication exposed readers to the natural splendor of the Yosemite National park, founded in 1890. Contained within the books of this exhibit are travel accounts, natural and cultural histories of the native people prior to and during the contact period.

The main goal of this exhibit is to showcase the diversity of the books found within Humboldt State University Library's Rare Books Collections.

The secondary obective of this exhibit is to provide access to digitized plates found within three of these books for those curious in seeing how Yosemite National Park looked before the 1920s.

For those interested in exploring more primary researh resources about North-Western Claifornia we encourage you to visit Humboldt State University's Humboldt Room.
