King Horn: A thirteenth century chivalric romance poem telling the story of King Horn and his journey to revenge his father's death while also falling in love with princess Rymenhild. King Horn is also the oldest surviving medieval romance written in English and is considered part of the Matter of England.

Havelok: Another therteenth century romance poem considered part of the Matter of England, the work retells English legends with emphasis on the working class of England and highlights the moral virtues of the working class which has led some to call the work a "bourgeois" romance.

Bevis of Hampton: A middle English romance poem which follows the adventures of a hero. Bevis of Hampton covers many common themes seen in English romances including revenge, dynasty, marriage, and evil creatures and like the other two romances in the work, was written some time in the thirteenth century.
